The Annual Holiday Concert has become an enduring part of Southern California’s holiday celebration. Each season, the de Angelis Vocal Ensemble kindles and renews the spirit of Christmas in the hearts of every listener. Christmas favorites are reinterpreted and new musical ways introduced to help broaden and deepen the love this holiday brings.

The genesis of the de Angelis Vocal Ensemble began four years ago with this uniquely themed concert; a performance of Renaissance motets and their interpretation of these poignant texts by contemporary composers of our era. This season we introduce eight masterpieces of the Renaissance with eight thrilling modern reinventions. This is a richly cast program that combines the wealth of Renaissance Europe with the talented craft of our musical contemporaries.

Our final concert of the season is a celebration of a World Premier: Robert Cummings Symphonic Alleluias. Robert Cummings is an active West Coast-based composer who has enjoyed major premieres throughout the United States, as well as Mexico. He has twice been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in composition. Scored for chorus and string orchestra, this work is a rich fusion of the American spirit; evoking the style of Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber. A thrilling conclusion to a brilliant season.aries.
